My version
of The Iowa State Fair August 10 - 20, 2000
First of all, let me state that this Fair is the biggest and best
I have seen yet, except for maybe The Eastern States Exposition which
showcases about 6 New England states.
The strangest thing I noticed at this very busy Fair was that ALL booths were open for the entire day except one. While everyone was clamoring for more business, the government didn't need the business I guess. Take a look at this photo which I enhanced so you can read the sign in the window.
We will navigate the Fair with a photo tour of various areas.

As this is an agricultural Fair, we'll start with a few animals.
The farm equipment. Some huge, some are models on a table. Can you tell the difference?
Being in Iowa, pork is big.
But beer is also big at this Fair.
A big draw at all Fairs is the carnival midway.
Still photos can't do justice to the nightly fireworks display.
When a storm knocked trees down, they turned the stumps into woodcarvings.
Here are some shots from the Skyride that crosses the grounds.
The hills are filled with 1,500 campers.
And these are just some miscellaneous shots.
