A scenic ride south of Bardstown found us in Loretto, Kentucky.  This is the home of the famous MAKER'S MARK DISTILLERY.  The Samuels family has been making bourbon in this rural setting since 1953.  It is one of the only operating distilleries in the country that is also a National Historic Landmark.

And at the end of the tour, they let you dip your own bottle in the famous red wax.
